Sam’s Christmas Wishlist 2016

With Christmas round the corner I thought I’d put my Christmas 2016 wishlist together. I’ve never done one before but have often got stuck when people ask me what I’d like – so this is just an aid to give you an idea if someone asks you!

Makeup and Skincare wishlist:

Filmstar Bronze and Glow -Medium to Dark – Charlotte Tilbury £49

I’d absolutely love to get this for Christmas – I love Charlotte tilbury makeup and I love a contour and a beautiful peach blush. The compact is just beautiful in Charlotte’s trademark rose gold packaging. Ooooh la la – you’d see my cheekbones from space with this palette!

Rest & Recharge Gift Set £35 Origins

I’m a faithful origins customer. I’ve been using the plantscription range for the past 2 years and I’m converted. Now that I’ve tried and tested this range, I’d like to try other creams from Origins. The Christmas gift sets are the best value for money and last year I may have picked up 4 gift sets which lasted me the entire year. So this time around I’d really like to try this set:

Merry and Bright Chritmas Cracker – Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel SpaceNK £18.50

This is a much hyped and beauty blogger fave so I’d really like to try this out and see what all the fuss is about. Plus, how cute is the cracker packaging?!

Elf Studio Bronzer £4.56 Amazon

I’ve been wanting to try the American brand Elf for ages and I really like the look of this bronzing palette as the brown shades look quite ashy and light. This is ideal for me as I tend to be heavy handed with my makeup so I’d be interested to try this out. I see this as a soft sculpting palette that’s easy on the wallet.

Sculpting Legging Set £25 Marks and Spencer

So if you watch my weekend vlogs and follow me on instagram you’ll know that I recently joined a gym and have been going to a few mid week classes. Unfortunately I don’t think that my primark ‘camel toe’ gym leggings are quite going to cut it as they have been slipping down my waist the more energetic (and toned – I wish!) the exercises become. So, I could really do with some new gym leggings – these are great as they are quick dry.

Long Crossover Coat £119 Zara

I don’t own a smart black coat so when I was in Zara and tried this on in a Medium I instantly wanted to buy it. I love the gold buttons – I think this makes the coat look more expensive and I love the double breasted design. Very chic and looks great with skinny jeans and boots. I’d love this for Christmas.

Kimberly Purse in Rose Gold £15 Dune via ASOS

I’ve been looking for a small wallet since my last one fell apart. I really like the compartments in this purse, plus it’s rose gold – what’s not to like. I also like small sized wallets as I tend to carry smaller bags at the weekend. This is so pretty!

Food for the mind:

Letters to My Fanny £5.59 Amazon
I used to watched Cherry Healey when she presented thought provoking and often controversial lifestyle documentaries on the BBC. She is smart, quirky and intelligent. For me, she’s a strong woman and I like her.  If the title is anything to go by, her book is going to be a real hoot and I really want to read this.

Lisa Eldridge Face Paint: The Story of Makeup £12.91 Amazon

I love Lisa Eldrige’s style, the way she applies makeup and her general love of makeup as an art and creative form. I’ve wanted this book for absolute ages – I imagine that it’s a page turning book filled with informative historical narrative and beautiful imagery which documents the makeup of previous decades and ages. The beauty geek in me would love this.

#GirlBoss £6.99 Amazon

I like the title and vibes of this book. It always bugs me when women are described as ‘bossy’ when in fact they just get things done. I think the writer is extremely successful and I too want to be a girl boss and be proud of it.

Techy Present Ideas

San Disk Ultra 64gb Class 10 up to 80Mbps £18.09 Amazon

Now that I’m uploading regularly and doing weekend vlogs, you can never have enough memory cards. You won’t believe that I only have 1 memory card and it’s 32G. I desperately need another to make my vlogging life just a little bit easier.

64GB is perfect as it will fit up to 320 mins of HD Video.

The higher the Mbps the faster it will write to your pc so it will be quicker to download the video footage onto your computer.

Instant Polaroid Camera -Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Intant Camera £64.95 Amazon

I’ve been wanting a polaroid camera in ages and I know that the refill film can be pricey, but I still want it. I’d use it when friends and family visit and pop the photos on our fridge to create a memory wall. I don’t really print out my photos anymore – they are all stored on my laptop and I really miss the feel and look of actual prints. It’s nice to have a physical photo opposed to something on my laptop.

First of all, Nars’ Lip Pencils have been on my radar for a while, but they never quite made it in to my basket- until now. The eye pencils on their own cost £18 each but the joy of this set is that you get 5 for £32. So that’s 5 pencils for the price of less than 2. That’s good economics – I had to have it.

Say hello to the Digital World Lip Pencil Confrette.

YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation

YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation Review

YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation Review

I’ll keep this short and sweet – the Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation is beautiful. I’m shade B50 and the colour match is spot on. It’s a medium coverage foundation which evens out my skin tone nicely without completely masking my freckles – see photos above.  I was actually quite impressed with the coverage – even though it’s medium coverage it doesn’t look cakey as YSL have used a soft focus gel in the formulation rather than an opaque powder which tends to mask the skin. If you want a lighter finish just use less than a full pump. It feels lovely and light on the skin, blends easily and gives my skin a natural radiance without being too dewy or greasy. It lasted 8-9 hours on me and I didn’t need to touch up.  It’s not as dewy as Vitalumiere and is similar to Vitalumiere Aqua in terms of a semi matte finish.  Even though it’s SPF19 I haven’t experienced any flash back and damn, it does photograph well.

I’d say this foundation would suit all skin types except really dry or really oily skin.

Love that it’s available in a whopping 22 shades which have been split into 3 groups depending on your skin tone -rose, beige and gold. When the sun actually re-appears in London, I’ll probably have to pick up BR50 which has a more golden undertone. The glass bottle and gold cap screams luxury and we all know I am a sucker for that.

It gets a massive thumbs up from me and has earned a coveted place on my beauty shelf.

A fabulous foundation.

Available for £30.50 at Boots and Sephora.

Complexion Perfection – Chanel Vitalumiere

Chanel Vitalumiere Sam Loves

Chanel Vitalumiere Sam Loves

So I will fess up now -I own a lot of foundations and every morning I relish deciding which one I am going to use. Recently I’ve found myself constantly reaching for Vitalumiere because it’s creamy, hydrating, blends like a dream, smells divine and gives my skin a real kick. It contains ingredients which specifically target tired and dry areas so it’s good for dry, very dry and mature skin. If you have oily or combination skin, forget it and move on to Perfection Lumiere. This foundation is not to be confused with Vitalumiere Aqua

Why Obsessed?
Because it’s super hydrating and moisturising – doesn’t emphasise flakiness or cling to dry patches –  glides over and just makes everything look fresh and dewy. It also doesn’t make your skin look oily.
You can even apply it without moisturising as it is has such a creamy formulation.

The deets:
Coverage wise, I would say it’s light to medium and it also contains SPF 15 which doesn’t flashback. The Chanel foundation range is more suitable for yellow skin tones. Saying that, if you suffer from redness or pink pigmentation – the yellow pigments counteract and cover these areas very well. It comes in 8 shades and I wear B20.

A perfect version of bare skin -WINNER!

Available to purchase at Boots and House of Fraser for £34.00.

Winter Essentials – Clarins HydraQuench Collection

Clarins Hydraquench Collection | Sam Loves

Clarins Hydraquench CollectionThis is billed as a ‘moisture must-have’ and I couldn’t agree more. If you have normal to dry skin, this may well be worth a look as I have seen a visible improvement in the condition of my skin since using this trio. I periodically suffer with dry patches around my chin area and two to three days after using this they simply disappear.

I use the HydraQuench cream and serum at night and apply the face mask once a week. The cream is thick, rich and emollient but it isn’t oily and absorbs quickly. It has a very pleasant scent that reminds me of sun cream and it doesn’t irritate my skin. The serum is light and has a watery consistency.  They all contain Hyaluronic Acid which holds one thousand times its weight in water and enhances the skin’s ability to retain moisture and therefore skin appears plumper and smoother.

This is my current favourite SOS treatment for dry and dehydrated skin as it leaves my skin feeling nothing short of amazing. This is my second repurchase and is a staple in my winter skincare regime.

It’s currently on offer  -normally £34.00 now £23.80 at Clarins.

MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush – Review

Mac Warm Soul Mineralize Blush | Sam Loves

I am totally in love with MAC’s Warm Soul Mineralize Blush. It is SO pretty on the cheeks and provides a lovely natural warmth to the face. I’ve also found that it can double up as a bronzer and is perfect as an everyday subtle blush.

Colour and Finish
It’s not your typical pink or coral blush – in fact it looks quite average in the pan but don’t be fooled by this as it looks beautiful on.  It’s a rose gold bronze colour with warm undertones. It contains tiny flecks of gold which gives a subtle golden shimmer. It can be applied lightly so that it looks sheer or can be built up. It’s not highly pigmented, so it never looks to heavy.

If you aren’t big on blushes but want a hint of colour this may be for you.

Warm Soul – LOVE the name. It’s actually very apt because it gives instant warmth and a subtle golden glow.

Available to purchase at Selfridges and MAC for £20.00.Mac Warm Soul Mineralize BlushMAC Warm Soul Blush

Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara -for Dramatic Bold Lashes

I love mascara and how it can enhance your eyes by making them appear bigger and more engaging to others.  If you like a wide eyed false lash effect look without actually applying false lashes, Lancôme Hypnose Drama Mascara may be the one for you.

The applicator brush is curved and packed full of small bristles which means it picks up a good amount of mascara from the tube and gives lashes a thorough coating. It darkens, lengthens and volumises  lashes. I love this mascara because it lasts all day, doesn’t smudge and gives me definition and volume.  I think this is my 8th repurchase in 01 Black.

When I use this mascara, my eyelashes look striking -dramatically thicker and fuller- it’s not called Drama for nothing!

Available to buy for £22.00 at lots of retailers including Boots,  Selfridges or John Lewis

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation Review – LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I have been using Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation for the last 6 months and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE it. This is a liquid skin perfecting foundation which gives a semi-matte flawless finish without being cakey or visible to the naked eye. I am a big fan of Chanel makeup and their foundation range is one of the best I have come across. I really believe in spending a bit more and investing in a quality foundation as it’s the base of your makeup which you want to last all day.Staying power and longevity are a big thing for me as I don’t want my makeup sliding off my face as the day progresses. It is a high end foundation, but I believe you get what you pay for. I recently recommended the Chanel foundation range to 2 friends and they too have fallen in love with their purchases.

The consistency of Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua is light and watery because of its silicone and water formulation. It therefore needs a good shake before you use it. I would say that it’s a semi – matte finish  as it gives my skin a glow without being as dewy as Chanel Vitalumiere. It contains SPF 15 and has a fresh floral scent.

Why I love Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation
I love this light liquid  foundation because it gives me a flawless and natural finish. It perfects my skin in terms of blurring the appearance of my pores and it’s also very long lasting . I really like the light/medium coverage as well as the scent – it smells expensive! Most of all, I don’t feel like I’m wearing a mask because it is imperceivable to the eye. I wear shade B30.

Could it be for you?
I think this foundation would suit dry, normal and combination skin. It doesn’t cling to my dry patches around my chin and it doesn’t make my forehead look luminous or shiny. The finish is light/medium coverage so I wouldn’t recommend Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua if you prefer a fuller coverage foundation.

You can purchase Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation at Boots, House of Fraser and Debenhams 30ml for £32.00

Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm Sam LovesClinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm Sam LovesClinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm Sam LovesClinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm Sam LovesClinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm Sam LovesP1070973

I have been using Clinique’s Take the Day off Cleansing Balm for the past 5 months on a daily basis. I love this product and it’s my current favourite cleanser that removes all my makeup including waterproof mascara in an easy and gentle way. It’s fragrance free and is suitable for my sensitive skin.

Application
I take the balm on my fingertips and massage it gently on to my face. Initially it has a wax-like consistency but once it’s on the skin it dissolves which means you can massage it on to your face. Nice if you have a bit of time and enjoy a mini facial massage!   I also apply the balm to my eye area and have found that it is extremely effective at removing waterproof mascara. I just lightly tap the product on to my eyes-no rubbing (please!) and voilà the mascara melts! Added bonus- it does not sting my eyes.
I then take a warm flannel and wipe everything off. It literally takes the day off and leaves my skin feeling clean and soft. Plus the use of the flannel helps to exfoliate my skin. Yippee!

Why I love Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm
I think this is one of the best cleansers on the market as I only have to lightly massage the balm in to my skin and eye area  and it removes everything – it does all the work so I don’t have to.  I loathe using cleansers where I have to sit there and continually rub and scrub at my poor face. Invest in a good product like this and you won’t have to.

Also a little goes a long way- after 5 months of use there is still loads left in the tub so this is a great skincare investment.

Ingredients
Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed OilCaprylic/capric TriglycerideSorbeth-30 TetraoleatePolyethylene, Peg-5 Glyceryl Triisostearate, WaterTocopherolPhenoxyethanol.

Could it be for you?
I think the balm would be suitable for pretty much everyone. I suffer from sensitive skin and I don’t feel a burning sensation or break out when I use this. It is fragrance free so unlikely to irritate your skin and is also mineral oil free.

Available to purchase online at Boots, Debenhams and John Lewis.
