When I think of Topshop, I think of clothing and the latest fashion trends. Makeup and Beauty isn’t the first thing that comes to mind but I was pleasantly surprised on a recent visit. I was impressed by the bright and vibrant lipstick offerings – the shade range reminded me of MAC lipsticks and at £8 is nearly half the price of a MAC lippie – £15.50. I found myself at the till purchasing Brighton Rock – a vivid, bright pink lipstick.
Brighton Rock is a satin matte finish lipstick which is quite moisturising and very pigmented which gives a great colour pay-off – one quick swipe on your lips and you’re ready to go. The lipstick also wears off really nicely and I love the cute name which instantly brings back happy memories of lazy summers on Brighton Beach.
A fabulous colour – a daring shade of pink!
I’d defo recommend checking these out and swatching them to see how vibrant the colours are.
I just can’t get enough of this – it’s a bright, vivid, orangey red that adds a perfect pop of colour. I’ve been wearing this look a lot during the day – with a bit of eyeliner, usual lashings of mascara and blush.
I’m happy to report it also wears off really nicely leaving a slight stain on the lips. I’d also recommend prepping the lips beforehand with lip balm to prevent lips from drying out.
Tip– orange based red lipsticks like Lady Danger look best with a peach blush and for this look I used NARS Orgasm on my cheeks.
I must add that the lipstick is slightly more orangey than my camera has managed to capture.
Yep, a total show stopper!

I have a thing for all things Rose Gold so when I saw the Zoeva Rose Gold Brush Set, I was sold. Not only do they look chic and elegant but they are actually great quality and affordable.
The collection consists of 8 brushes – 4 face and 4 eye brushes which are each wrapped in beautiful rose gold. They are made from natural hair and synthetic taklon bristles, so they can be used with cream and powder based products. The set comes in an equally gorgeous clutch bag with protective cloth pouch. Luxury all the way.
My faves are the 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek for perfect contours, 110 Face Shape for precision concealing and the 227 Luxe Soft Definer (MAC 217 Dupe).
106 Powder: Apply loose and pressed powder
102 Silk Finish: Apply and blend foundation
110 Face Shape: Contour the face shape with cream and powder products
127 Luxe Sheer Cheek: Apply powder blush
142 Concealer Buffer: Apply and blend concealer
227 Soft Definer: Softly blend and smooth eyeshadow
231 Petit Crease: Accentuating and blending in the crease
317 Wing Liner: Detailed eyeliner strokes and a perfect wing
Not only do the Zoeva brushes look absolutely gorgeous, they are are affordable good quality makeup brushes which is difficult to find on the high street. My MAC and Real Techniques Brushes will be having a well deserved rest.
It’s a quickie post today as it’s Lancome’s 10th Birthday and to celebrate, ALL Lancome Hypnose Mascaras are reduced to just £10.00 at Debenhams. They are normally £22.50 and permanent products like these are never reduced in price. This is available online and in store -so go grab yourself a beauty steal!
Cleaning makeup brushes is essential to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria on your skin which can lead to dreaded blemishes. It also removes product build up on the bristles which makes blending easier.
Enter Beautyblender Solid Cleanser – literally a bar of ‘soap’ which makes deep cleaning brushes incredibly easy. Dip brush in to soap, swirl, rinse et voila! I’ve never seen my brushes so clean! I also find it particularly difficult to remove all the colour from my lipstick brushes, but the Solid Cleanser removed every last trace of lipstick as the photos below show.
I’m saying goodbye to liquid brush cleansers – too messy trying to prevent the runny cleanser escaping from the palm of your hand whilst also trying to swirl the brush around.
If you are looking for a super quick, easy and cheap way of creating a smouldering smokey eye look no further than Collection’s Eyeshadow Pencils.
I popped the Hot Chocolate dark brown/purple shade over my lids, blended out, added black eye liner, mascara and voila! A strong statement smokey eye in less than 2 minutes! I also applied Vanilla Sky to my inner corners as a highlight.
The pencils are creamy and apply softly. You need to blend fast as they set quickly- once they’ve set they literally, do not budge or smudge. Check out my YouTube Video for the demo.
As they are waterproof, they can be a little difficult to remove so I’d recommend using an oil based eye make up remover. They can be tricky to sharpen as the nibs are creamy -just be careful when twisting the pencil in to the sharpener.
This is really good for lazy days when you can’t be asked to faff around with powder eyeshadow.
All I can say is WOW about Clinique’s All About Shadow 8-Pan Palette in Neautral Territory 2.
This is an 8 shadow universally flattering compact palette which is perfect if you are on the go. There are 3 neutral shades which are great for a subtle everyday look. What I love about this palette – are the 5 warm shades, especially the red tinged browns which is something you don’t see very often in palettes. Instead of creating a traditional brown smoky eye, I am really enjoying using the rich plummy brown tones to mix it up and create a smoky eye with a twist.
The shadows look matte in the pan but they are all shimmery and reflect the light beautifully. The buttery consistency of the eyeshadows means they blend effortlessly.
The eyeshadows are long wearing and nicely pigmented. The palette is incredibly compact (12cm x 5cm) and light (11.6g) so it’s perfect to carry in your handbag/clutch. The mirrored casing looks plush but soon gets lots of fingerprinty marks on it. I’m also impressed with the applicator – a foam sponge on one end to pack on the colour and a nice soft fluffy brush to blend out. The mirror is also a good size for when you’re in dash. Even though it’s a compact, I’d say that the eyeshadows are pretty much full size.
The formula is allergy-tested, 100% fragrance free, and ophthalmologist-tested.
It’s a Limited Edition so snap it up before it sells out. Available to purchase for £32 at Sephora, Boots, Clinique.
I eagerly approached my local MAC counter today and the very first thing that caught my eye was the super gorgeous Stereo Rose blush. The MUA swiped a little over my cheek bone and it gave me beautiful flush of colour and glow. It makes me look so healthy and I was sold instantly. I hope you can see why in the photos below.
It is a warm-toned coral with a shimmery metallic sheen and copper veining running through it. I think it’s perfect as a blush for light to medium skin tones, for deeper skins it will look good as a highlighter. It reminds me of my well loved MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush but a coral version of it. If you like shimmer in your blush, you will love this as it will give you a sun kissed look. I must say that IloveMAC Mineralize blushes because I find that they really enhance cheekbones with a luminous pearlized shimmer and give me a really healthy glow and sculpted finish.
You also get a whopping 9g for £22 compared to the other mineralize blushes which retail for £20 for 3.5g. Bargain!
I can guarantee this limited edition blush will sell out fast so if you can’t get it online do try your local MAC counter.
I’ve got a stash of Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters rolling around the bottom of my bag and they are such an easy peasy way to get a quick pop of colour and lots of moisture on your lips. Think moisture and colour.
So Moisturising: They are particularly good if you struggle with traditional lipsticks and find them drying or find they stick to flaky areas. The Revlon Lip Butters won’t dry your lips out as they contain mango, shea and coconut butter and have a gel formulation. They glide on and leave me with softer smoother lips. There are over 20 shades to choose from and they give a sheer to medium colour with glossy (not sticky) finish.
The packaging is nifty as the bullets come in the same colour as the Lip Butter and the top of the lids are clear which is handy for identifying the different shades.
