If you love orange lipsticks, then you’re going to fall in love with MAC’s Morange. Check out how bright it is! It is insane! On first appearance, it can look intimidating as it’s so orange and vibrant but I urge you to give it a go it you are a bold lipstick lover. You will love it!
I really like it on my olive skin tone and it goes on really smoothly as it’s a cream sheen finish. It’s highly pigmented and is definitely a summer lipstick shade. It can definitely try and compete with the rest of your makeup so I’d recommend dialing down the eyes and not going to heavy on your base. Finish off with a touch of peach blush to tie the whole look together.
Following in the footsteps of the Clinique Chubby Sticks, high street beauty brands like Revlon and Bourjois have released their own better and cheaper crayons. My favourite so far has to be Bourjois Peach on the Beach – a peachy shade. Really glossy but not in a sticky or gloopy way more like a moisturising lip balm with gorgeous colour. As with most balms, I don’t find this lip crayon long wearing as it tends to wear off during eating and drinking but topping up is so easy and you don’t need a mirror. I love the shade – it’s so pretty, universally flattering and a fab everyday shade.
When I think of Topshop, I think of clothing and the latest fashion trends. Makeup and Beauty isn’t the first thing that comes to mind but I was pleasantly surprised on a recent visit. I was impressed by the bright and vibrant lipstick offerings – the shade range reminded me of MAC lipsticks and at £8 is nearly half the price of a MAC lippie – £15.50. I found myself at the till purchasing Brighton Rock – a vivid, bright pink lipstick.
Brighton Rock is a satin matte finish lipstick which is quite moisturising and very pigmented which gives a great colour pay-off – one quick swipe on your lips and you’re ready to go. The lipstick also wears off really nicely and I love the cute name which instantly brings back happy memories of lazy summers on Brighton Beach.
A fabulous colour – a daring shade of pink!
I’d defo recommend checking these out and swatching them to see how vibrant the colours are.
I just can’t get enough of this – it’s a bright, vivid, orangey red that adds a perfect pop of colour. I’ve been wearing this look a lot during the day – with a bit of eyeliner, usual lashings of mascara and blush.
I’m happy to report it also wears off really nicely leaving a slight stain on the lips. I’d also recommend prepping the lips beforehand with lip balm to prevent lips from drying out.
Tip– orange based red lipsticks like Lady Danger look best with a peach blush and for this look I used NARS Orgasm on my cheeks.
I must add that the lipstick is slightly more orangey than my camera has managed to capture.
Yep, a total show stopper!

I’ve got a stash of Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters rolling around the bottom of my bag and they are such an easy peasy way to get a quick pop of colour and lots of moisture on your lips. Think moisture and colour.
So Moisturising: They are particularly good if you struggle with traditional lipsticks and find them drying or find they stick to flaky areas. The Revlon Lip Butters won’t dry your lips out as they contain mango, shea and coconut butter and have a gel formulation. They glide on and leave me with softer smoother lips. There are over 20 shades to choose from and they give a sheer to medium colour with glossy (not sticky) finish.
The packaging is nifty as the bullets come in the same colour as the Lip Butter and the top of the lids are clear which is handy for identifying the different shades.
Winter is now fully upon us and as a result, my lips have become extremely dry and parched. My go-to lip balms and chapsticks don’t seem to soothe the dryness for long and my lips are soon left feeling sore and parched again. I was in Boots a couple of weeks ago and I whimsically purchased Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Lip Protectant. Firstly, I love the limited edition red Christmas packaging (the lip creams usually come in a white bullet). Secondly, I love how it provides an instant surge of moisture to my lips. I have really noticed a dramatic improvement in the condition of my lips.
It’s a great overnight lip treatment as I apply a generous layer at night and find that by morning my lips feel soft, moisturised and rejuvenated. I apply liberally during the day and can wear my lipstick over the top. It contains emollients and Vitamin E which have healing and moisturising properties. It has the same formulation as the cult classic Eight Hour Cream except that it comes in a lipstick format. You can even use it in the summer as it contains SPF 15.
A must have Winter Essential to treat very dry, chapped or sore lips.
Sleek really do bring it when it comes to intense vibrant colours and their offerings for a matte finish liquid lipstick in the Sleek Matte Me Lip Collection does not disappoint. They initially go on like a lip gloss but dry into a matte finish. I do love a matte lip- very on trend and these lip lacquers are a great way to achieve a bold statement lip in just one coat.
Rioja Red and Party Pink are my favourites and are particularly perfect for a party pout.
Matte lipsticks can be drying so I’d suggest exfoliating your lips before application and applying a generous layer of lip balm so that they don’t dry out or look crusty! While experimenting with these, I would recommend applying only one coat as if you apply too many layers it will get flakey.
They come in the following 6 shades and at £4.99 a pop:
