Let me introduce you to Collin and Franceso – 2 studs from Tom Ford’s Lips and Boys Collection. Are they gorgeous? Yes they are.
Are they tiny? YES THEY ARE.
This was my first dabble with TF lipsticks after Selfridges sent me a preview of the line, I liked the fact that they were smaller versions of the full size lipsticks and therefore more ‘affordable’ at £26 each. I also didn’t do my usual research, blindly ordered Colin and Francesco and when they arrived I was jaw- to-the-floor SHOCKED. I mean look at them – they are tiny. Teeny tiny. Look at them compared to a MAC lipstick. They are literally designed to be held in the hands of small children.
It doesn’t matter that the lipsticks are pretty. It doesn’t matter that they look and feel expensive. It doesn’t matter that the lipsticks are creamy, pigmented and true to colour.
Let’s face it, size matters and everytime I hold Collin or Francesco in my hands, I am reminded of how much I paid and the itty bitty lipsticks I got in return. This leads to frequent facepalming.
That being said, if you carry a small clutch bag all the time or for evenings out, they would be perfect as they are so compact.
I picked up L’Oreal’s Color Riche Eva’s Nude on a recent trip to Boots- it was an impulse buy but I’d always wanted to try the range out as each lipstick is named after famous film stars and celebrities. I picked up Eva’s nude – named after Eva Longoria.
The packaging is nice – each lipstick is signed by the star it’s named after. The lipstick is really light and sheer and gives you a hint of colour – a nice healthy sheen. It goes on smoothly but the finish is a little uneven so you’ll need to rub your lips together after. I like the colour – it’s a dusky pinky nude and I’d recommend it if you don’t like wearing full on lipsticks and prefer a more natural look. It would be great for work as it’s nude and barely there.
If you’re a lipstick lover, you’re going to love my new video that I’ve just uploaded – my top 10 MAC lipsticks. There’s nudes, plums, oranges and reds so there maybe something that tempts you! Thanks for reading and watching x
It’s great to get back into the blogging groove. I honestly think I’ve got my beauty mojo back. I’ve got loads of video and blog post ideas swirling round my head and I even made myself a weekly blog planner where I plan to post on samloves.com at least once a week. Woohoo, get me trying to get my blog act together!
On to the lipstick….!
This little gem has become my go-to, easy to wear and just slap on during the day lippie. I love the creamy moisturising formula and I love how the peachy coral tone gives a really healthy brightening effect to the face. One of my favourite high street lipsticks for sure. I picked mine up at Boots.
Happy New Year! I am incredibly excited about 2015 as it’s the year I’ll be getting married! Can’t wait to create lots of wonderful memories. To say I am excited is an understatement! I have been doing lots of ‘Wedding things’ and have thought about filming some YouTube videos to document my wedding journey – let me know if this is something you would like to see.
Seeing as it’s a brand spanking new year, I’ve also been breaking out all my nude lipsticks and I particularly love this combo of MAC Pure Zen with No 7 Precision Lip Liner in Nude. Lining lips is a must for me as it creates a much nicer shape and they look also look a lot fuller and plumper. I love the peachy coral tone of MAC Pure Zen – it’s a nude that just does something when worn. The creme sheen formula means that it’s quite moisturising and glossy on the lips – ideal for the cold winter months.
This is my go to autumn shade and I absolutely love the rich dark berry colour. I love wearing it lightly as a stain or full on to give me that sultry look. It’s so appropriate for the London weather right now! A the formula is really moisturising, it doesn’t make your lips look dry and chapped. I’ve been loving how moisturising and easy to apply Clinique’s Chubby Stick in Grandest Grape is. I’ve been really impressed with the colour intensity and how easily it glides on to the lips. There’s a nice sheen and it instantly gives you this vamped up – sexy siren look. It’s a must have if you’ve got dry lips but like to wear a statement lip. Such a gorgeous colour. I picked mine up at Boots.
On a random pit stop to Spacenk, I spied this absolute gem at the Christmas counter. First of all, Nars’ Lip Pencils have been on my radar for a while, but they never quite made it in to my basket- until now. The eye pencils on their own cost £18 each but the joy of this set is that you get 5 for £32. So that’s 5 pencils for the price of less than 2. That’s good economics – I had to have it.
Now my love for a bold lip is well documented and I am so impressed with the range of colours – from everyday nudes to sumptuous reds. The pencils are so versatile. The colour intensity on the first swipe on to the lips is insane and they all have really good staying power – even after eating.
A lip colour for every occasion:
I am so happy I snapped these up before they sold out and can I also shout out the lovely presentation box – just love it and will reuse to store lipsticks in.
Nars’ Christmas Collection always has the WOW factor and this year they’ve outdone themselves.

I love rocking a red lip and what better time than Christmas party season to show you my Top 5 Favourite Red Lipsticks. I honestly think that red isn’t just for parties but a really great colour to throw on to add something special to any everyday makeup look. Hope you enjoy x
I bought this shade months ago after being inspired by this Kim Kardashian photo. The lipstick she is wearing is Nars Shiap but after I tried it on in Space NK, I found that it was quite drying on the lips. I resolved to hunt down a Nars Shiap dupe and found a near perfect colour match in Rimmel’s Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in Shade 20.
This is a high intensity cool pink fushia lipstick and the colour is insane.
Does it emphasise your lips? Erm yes! and that means that all other makeup should be toned down in order to maximize the focus on the lips.
Would I recommend? Definitely – goes on easily, lasts well, affordable and most importantly -I feel like a rock star wearing this!
